Can't right click on RSS box?

I have a couple sites I'd like to link to my 360 page, but I can't get the proper RSS url. When I right click on the RSS box, nothing happens. When I click on it, it asks if I want RSS or Atom, I do pick RSS, and it leads me to a page that shows a preview of the RSS feed. It has a box that says "add to SBC Yahoo", but nothing happens when I click it - it doesn't go to my yahoo front page. The url of that page doesn't provide the proper RSS url. There is a button that takes you to email alerts, and it has the RSS url there, but when I try to use that url it gives me an error message. It's frustrating. I know the feed exists, because I can see the preview of it. What am I doing wrong?

Can't right click on RSS box?
Try right clicking the RSS box and copy as a short cut. I hear that Yahoo 360 is having problems with posting feeds so even if you do it correctly it might not post until it gets fixed.

Transforming rss feeds into xtml to put onto web site?

i have yahoo 360 but im trying to put a feed to certain news onto my yahoo 360 page and ti says this to do

Go to your other blog or personal web site and look for a little orange button like this: . This shows that you can syndicate your content via RSS. Usually, this clickable button links directly to an RSS file. (The page looks like raw code, but don't let it scare you!)

To add the RSS URL to your Yahoo! 360° Feeds module, right-click on the orange XML button to "Copy Shortcut." Or click on the "XML" button and use "Ctrl-C" on your keyboard to copy the URL found in the address bar of your browser.

Use "Ctrl-V" to paste the URL into the field above. When you're done, click the "Save" button below.

but there isnt a xtml button on the news page after i press the rss feed button can somebody helo me and tell me how in detail

Transforming rss feeds into xtml to put onto web site?
There are two methods mentioned:

1. Right-click on the RSS button and then "Copy Shortcut."

~ OR ~

2. Click on the RSS button and then copy the address from the web address bar.

It seems like you got a little confused. They're actually two different things to do. So just copy the address of that page instead of trying to find another button in it. (By the way, some sites use an RSS buttons and others use an XML button. They both work.)

Then you can paste the web address onto your 360 feeds list, and you'll be ready to go.
Reply:No problem. ;D Report It

Reply:It is confusing cause I tried to right click the RSS button to shortcut copy the feed but nothing happened but how do you paste the web site in the address bar? Report It

How does RSS enhance Blog Performance?

A blog can be read with standard browser, or alternatively, can be read by any RSS reader. Blogs and even website can be syndicated to user RSS feeds. Many content rich sites use RSS and Blogging to keep the user up-to-date with information, breaking news and other stories. Subscription by RSS makes the content come to the user rather than user having to go to different blogs to fetch it. Hence RSS, utilized “pull” technology which means user ask for content, unlike email marketing, which relies on “push” technology to push content unasked for more....

What is RSS?

i would like to know what is RSS?

what is the difference between holding RSS and without RSS?

we can also read online newspaper online even without RSS, isn't it? then what is RSS for?

What is RSS?
It means Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. It's a way of automatically keeping you updated on RSS sites that you subscribe to rather than you checking them manually. So, with your online newspaper example, new content would be updated automatically when you subscribe to that newspaper (subscribe for free that is), then you can read any updates via an RSS reader like Google Reader rather than visiting the website yourself and finding updates manually.

RSS Feeds - How do I get people to subscribe to my feeds without having to go to my site first?

I understand that if I add RSS buttons to my site, people who visit my site can subscribe to the RSS and read it in their reader - But, how do people find out about my feeds without knowing about my site first.... Where do I submit my feeds so people can find it by typing in keywords about topics they are interested in?

I want to use the RSS to promote my site and content for those who don't know about my site in the first place.

I believe Yahoo and Google have pages to submit my RSS feeds to so people can access them through their MyYahoo or iGoogle, but are there others - and how do people find it with keywords?

RSS Feeds - How do I get people to subscribe to my feeds without having to go to my site first?
Hi,

There are *tons* of feed directories and search engines. Some are small and vertical like:

Medical Feeds - http://www.medical-feeds.com

Sports Feeds - http://www.sports-feeds.com

Realty Feeds - http://www.realty-feeds.net/

While others are more generic and accept feeds on any topic. I find the best list of places to submit feeds is on RSS Specifications - http://www.rss-specifications.com/rss-su...

Use the above list for manuel submissions. If you are looking for software to assist you with the process consider RSS Submit by Dummy Software - http://www.dummysoftware.com/rsssubmit.h...

Keep in mind when submitting your RSS feed, most feed directories will ask for the URL of the feed, they extract keywords from your Channel Title and Description so they should be keyword rich without being spammy!

Additionally make sure that you are using "auto-discovery" code on your website, that will help users using many RSS readers "automatically" know you have an RSS feed available for the content. FeedForAll has a free tool to help with the code - http://www.feedforall.com/autodiscovery....

how RSS work

how to use RSS

and tell all about RSS

???RSS problem???
RSS(Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated digital content, such as blogs, news feeds or podcasts.

Users of RSS content use software programs called "feed readers" or "feed aggregators". The user subscribes to a feed by entering a link to the feed into the reader program. The reader can then check the user's subscribed feeds to see if any of those feeds have new content since the last time it checked, and if so, retrieve that content and present it to the user.

Large scale web syndication of content started in 2001 when Miniclip freely syndicated online browser based interactive games to the masses. Today many different types of content is syndicated on the Internet. Millions of online publishers including newspapers, commercial web sites and blogs now publish their latest news headlines, product offers or blog postings in standard format news feed.

Syndication benefits both the websites providing information and the websites displaying it. For the receiving site, content syndication is an effective way of adding greater depth and immediacy of information to its pages, making it more attractive to users. For the transmitting site, syndication drives exposure across numerous online platforms. This generates new traffic for the transmitting site — making syndication a free and easy form of advertisement.

I want to know if it's possible to put a collection of different websites' feeds into a single RSS feed so that I can share them all with others. I don't have a website - i just want to share the RSS feeds I subscribe to with my colleagues in an easy way.

So, to recap, I want to be able to pass on a single feed which, when subscribed to, enables my favourite feeds to be shared.

You could open a free NewsGator account and add all your favorite RSS feeds there. Then just tell your colleagues what the username and password are so that they can access the same account.

Not sure if this will help but you need a RSS interpreter or news reader program that collects the data from the rss source and then displays the info in its own gui.

OK to Have RSS Feeds for Entire Blog?

Is it ok to have RSS "archives" for all blog entries that have been "retired" from the main RSS feed? The RSS feed for my blog allows for the latest 30 entries to be included. I noticed that these entries are ranked much higher than the blog entries that are no longer part of the feed. I'm wondering if I have RSS archives for all my blog entries, that might boost these blog entries (many are labeled "supplemental result" in Google once they are gone from the main RSS feed).

I never thought that RSS feeds could boost linked pages that much on a site. It seems that way on my site.

As long as you have plenty of bandwidth available, I would say keep the RSS "archives".

How do I recieve targeted RSS content using defined keywords?

I am a newbie with RSS. Its pretty straight forward on signing up for various RSS feeds- but my question is different. I want to use a keyword to decide when relevant content should show up in my RSS box. For example, if i am interested in "German Shephard", I would want any RSS feed to populate in my RSS box. How do I do that? Is RSS the best way?

After looking at both Yahoo and Google, there does not appear to be a way to set a keyword as the driver to populate content in my RSS box vs defining a specific RSS feed. thoughts?

RSS Feeds won't work?

Hi,

I have an rss feed that I upload, this is the first time that I post it live. I've posted it to many different rss submit areas and Feed Burner and the like. I try to go in RSS feed readers and NONE of them will pick up my feed or even find it.

I need help, RSS seems so simple, yet it seems I just can't grasp what needs to be done to make it work. My feed has the word "esoteric" plastered all over the feed yet the search engine can't even find it. Is there a special something that needs to be done...?

PLEASE help!!

RSS Feeds won't work?
OK, thanks for the URL. When I try to look at your RSS feed (just plug the address into your browser), I get the following error:

XML Parsing Error: mismatched tag. Expected: %26lt;/meta%26gt;.

Location: http://www.eternalbodhi.com/RSSFeeds/Eso...

Line Number 91, Column 7: %26lt;/channel%26gt;

So somewhere you're not closing an opening %26lt;meta%26gt; tag before you try to close the %26lt;channel%26gt; tag.

In fact, now that I see the actual XML source, just before your %26lt;title%26gt; tag, you should have a closing %26lt;/meta%26gt; tag.

--------- Update ------------

Now you have to put a closing bracket %26gt; before the %26lt;/meta%26gt; tag, to close off the %26lt;meta tag so it looks like this:

spirituality, mystical"%26gt;%26lt;/meta%26gt;

and not this:

spirituality, mystical"%26lt;/meta%26gt;

Trouble deleting RSS feed...?

When I tried the new My Yahoo beta, it added a whole bunch of RSS feeds to my new Yahoo Mail RSS reader. I deleted most

of them, but when I try to delete two of them, it gives me an error...

A window pops up and says: "There was a problem removing the following feeds. Try again later." and then has a link to the RSS XML.

One is "Music Charts" at http://music.yahoo.com/myyahoo/myyahoo_m... and the other is "Yahoo News: Most Viewed Top Stories" at http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/mostviewed...

I tried contacting Yahoo about it but they sent back a generic email saying to contact them via their help site (which is the way I contacted them in the first place *sigh*).

Is anyone else having a similar issue with removing RSS feeds? I wish there was another way to delete them from your mail other than just right-clicking, because even after reloading my browser and using three seperate computers, it still won't remove them... so the problem is certainly on Yahoo's end here.

Any ideas?

Trouble deleting RSS feed...?
Wen you can't delete usually It requires permission from the administrator of the windows user to give the windows password.
Reply:I have the exact same problem with the the two yahoo feeds(music %26amp; news).

Seems they are forcing us to keep them. Report It

Reply:I also have the same problem and do not have mail beta anymore.

I dont think it is a windows user issue as I am admin in my PC. Report It

Reply:I just figured out the solution. Seems it's a problem with the "new my yahoo" if you revert back to the orginal my yahoo page the rss feeds disappear. Report It

RSS content question?

I have some RSS public feeds on michigan.gov's website I would like to implement into my website. It says free for personal use and says you can use any RSS reader to subscribe to them. What separates my website from any RSS reader if I let them choose which to select and load how they want. Wouldn't it just become RSS software then? I am confused there how some people can make money selling rss software and wondering if it is legal to put them on my website. I am not looking to steal the information it is setup to be public information and of course I will not modify it at all.

RSS content question?
Amy,

It is perfectly legal to show someone else's RSS feeds on your own site if you mention where the information came from. When someone puts up an RSS feed, it is implied that other readers can read it however and wherever they feel like.

Hope that helps!
Reply:Lotta grey area there. See if your site has Advertiseing, you make money, or is ad sponsored, Corporation X and Y make money, it just left the Public Domain and is in the Private Sector.

It is kinda goofy, because if I call my site a News Paper, I am allowed to put allmost anything I choose on it.

Contact the stream feeder, the Orginaztion that owns the Copyright on that Feed, and ask or get permission to use it. This whole internet is getting kinda crazy lateley with all these Geneva US Laws just now becomeing active.

To not modify means that you will publish the stream in its entirety, do you have any idea what that could entail. Some RSS feeds say %26lt;Stop%26gt; %26lt;here%26gt; and whatnot depending on what service you use, that is like the end and start point, you cannot edit or modify anything in between those tags. But to publish sections of a stream, one must get the permission and copyright clearence from the owner.

If the public is the owner, I guess you give yourself permission, but, the author still has Copyrite Protection so make sure not to break between the tags. You can add a comment, or make a statement after the legit /stop /end tag, but not in the middle of it.

I am like a puppy dog looking at a man and a truck haveing an argument, head turned?????These Internet Laws are thwarting the great Free Flow of Information that was envisioned.

Pay enough mnthly fees and you can look at anything you want.

Look at the CC and FSF sites to learn more about that stuff.

RSs .......................??
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Its basically an XML file, readable by news and feed readers which allow users of the site to easily track changes and updates to content on the site.
Reply:RSS is an easy way to syndicate Internet content. The big benefit to RSS is that users *choose* the content they wish to see. Users scan information in a reader and only click to the items of interest, saving time. Report It

Reply:RSS is a web feed which means that you can subscribe to that website giving you new information as it comes in. You can use programs downloaded from the internet to read an RSS subscription or use a web browser (such as firefox) to see the information

In computer lingo, what does RSS mean?

Rss .... ?
Real Simple Stupid!
Reply:Really Simple Syndication. Its for feeds, or sending notification to subscribers that you have new content on your site. Check out feedburner.com
Reply:RSS is a standard format for syndicating content on the Internet. The content can be anything! Often information contained in an RSS feed is syndicated on other sites which expands its reach.

Website visitors love RSS because they choose which feeds they wish to subscribe to, if at any point they are unhapy with the content contained in the RSS feed they simply unsubscribe and no longer receive notification of feed updates.

RSS is really a win, win for both subscribers and publishers.

In order to get a better understanding of how RSS works download an RSS reader or use a web aggregator and subscribe to an RSS feed (they are usually indicated by a small orange icon).
